30

today...i am...

i don't have any big revelations so far.

is this what 30 feels like?

all i can think about right now is that
i am at work with no work to do

instead of at home with my two amazing men.

such is life.

and now...on to being...
happier post to come...
hmm...
possibly later this weekend?
maybe even a real picture or two!

tomorrow...

if any of you have seen me over the past 3 yrs
you know that i have this weird scar-tissue-looking thing on my chin.
i thought it was a zit...
then a scar...
or as time went on a mole...
maybe even...gasp...a wart...ewww...
it kinda looks like this...with less hair

pretty, right? (ick)
i had it looked at by a dermatologist a few weeks ago...
had it removed and a biopsy.
the biopsy came back positive

soooo...tomorrow i have the basal cell carcinoma
(skin cancer for those of you like me who have no clue about medical jargon)
REMOVED...

moral of the story: don't wait to have weird stuff on your face looked at...

oh...
and if you are the praying sort and one of my friends...
(most of you are...)
surgery starts at 7:30am Thursday Oct 28th
and could be only 3 hours or up to 6 hours...
and e will be with hubby in the waiting room...

i will post before and after shots soon
and let you all know how it went...no worries friends

The Big Man Upstairs has it all under control.

Inspired...

spiritually...
God is doing some amazing things...not only with me but with our whole family. I cannot do anything but praise HIM for it all. The cry of my heart has been for HIM to cosume me from the inside out...He decided to take control of our entire family...YAY! I had a great weekend learning from and guiding some awesome high school girls from C3 in TX and God showed me some truths about myself and I'm working on being more...no less for myself and more of HIM. that's all.

kiddos...
if you have not read this blog...do so. Jenny over at Progressive Early Childhood has this series on creating outdoor spaces for kids...i so wish we had our own house to do this in...and am always inspired by how she is with the preschoolers she works with.

no picture because i am doing this on the sly...still thinking about changing the name and making this more of a family update...no crafty things yet...we've been on vacation!

MOVING

I am so excited that the ladies at http://acraftacopia.blogspot.com/ have invited me to join them for the crafty things i do and think about...plus they are fantastic ladies and it means i don't feel like i have to update a ton because there are 4 of us. check it out!

soooo....this blog may change to more of family updates. pictures, things we do...etc.

or i may close this one...change the name and start a new one for our little clan.

very undecided.

Crafts...Thoughts...Updates

CRAFTS...
Things completed:
My owl!

I love the eyes...

E inspecting my handiwork.

"WHOO WHOO"

Project Boards. i am one of the most unorganized people i know...thus projects boards with important dates and deadlines...still to be filled in :) oh well...at least the project is finished even if i haven't used it yet.

In Process: Father's Day...won't be finished until after then but here's the start...

we recently went to see Pearl Jam (Band of Horses opened)...one of hubby's favorite bands of all time. we bought a poster...they do different ones for each city...but don't have the money to get it framed yet. in the meantime...i am making the collage of photos (unseen) with our tickets and "Pearl Jam" in the typewriter font because that's what their background/scene design looked like for the concert.

Necklace. My mom got this amazing necklace from a friend of hers...then handed it to me and said "i think you could make this" "nah...i'm not that good...wait let me see that again...ooo...it's so pretty. and SO easy. can i keep this for a while?"
i might even do a tutorial since it is soooo simple. in the meantime...

Things i soooo want to do...but let's face it...i probably won't. blergh.
fabric silhouette. i found this one in a book (would reference if i could remember the name).

and so inspired by this and this HEXAGONS!!! i want! i need! i...gave all my fabric away after the 4th move of doing nothing with it maybe someday.

THOUGHTS...
this is a little bit of a running monologue that went on in my head on tuesday...not including the returning thoughts to the above crafts. you may be bored with this part...if so...that's ok. just skip it :)
i love this song...it's kind of morbid. (something corporate - me and the moon) i wonder why i like it. am i weird? hubby says that it is because it's fantastic. oh well. why can't people be smart and put things IN the envelope? don't tape all your personal info to the outside of the envelope that you are putting in the mail allowing everyone to see your credit card info. gosh! why does she laugh like that? like the mary poppins song about all the different laughs...she laughs through her nose. so fake sounding. "hmhnhnhn" i want to travel to england...actually more so ireland. or take a cruise. hubby and i have talked about moving far far away. i don't know that it will ever happen, but we like each other enough to move someplace no one else knows us. starting over. but hopefully with stability. does anyone else wish that their thanksgiving could be like the ones on friends? we would like that...to have a holiday to share with our friend family. right now we rotate thanksgiving and christmas between both sets of parents...thinking about changing it to easter and christmas...who to "jip" the year we decide to change it though...hmmm. need to post pictures on facebook from memorial day. so behind. father's day present not going to be finished in time. why did the website say "no cameras allowed" and then when we got to the door it was all "cameras are ok...just not fancy ones" i hate not having our own pictures from that night. especially for hubby. recently watched high fidelity...so eye-opening. loved it. also love: whip it and away we go. LOVE this song!!! uprising by muse. makes me bebop my head. muse was on the twilight soundtrack...blergh. twilight rant coming: i understand the appeal to twilight. will admit i was obsessed once. read the books a lot. THEN went to see the movie. sucky suck suck suck. (my opinion only) then felt like i had to go see the second so i went during the day with a friend and we laughed through the whole thing. pi$$ed some mommas and daughters off. left and talked about how it was like a drug...we didn't want to go. knew we wouldn't like it. but still went. hope i hold out on this one. i have even sold my books. i'm past it. over it. i understand it. but i'm not there anymore. ok...enough about that. cannot wait for wednesday so you think you can dance! my new favorite show...and i got hubby sucked into the next food network star. the best part of my job is unfortunately not something i can share with everyone due to HIPAA...funny names...funny funny names. we share them with each other and wonder what parents were thinking when they named their children and if they are women we wonder if they married into that name...if so...they must REALLY love them.

UPDATES...
this is a new section...
WEIGHT: everyone says it's just baby weight, but i know different. when we moved to TX in 2005 i gained weight...wish i could say it was all the good comfort food i was eating but really i just got lazy and ended around 210lbs. i have been in the 200 lb range since then (thank God i am 5'8" and hide it well) except in my first trimester with E. i was down to 180. this is the first time in my life i have been proactive in my weight loss. changing my calorie intake, the food that i eat and trying to exercise everyday.
so starting a few weeks ago i weighed in at 203 lbs.
today i am 195 lbs. i am hoping that by posting i will be reminded to keep it up.
MOVIES: things i've recently watched that i loved.
High Fidelity
Away We Go
Whip It
TV:
So You Think You Can Dance - love love love Alex, Kent, and Lauren...thought Melinda should have gone home instead.
MUSIC:
Uprising - Muse
Me and the Moon - Something Corporate
BOOKS:
The Moor - Laurie R. King
The Man Who Loved Books Too Much - Allison Hoover Bartlett

infiltration...

here is an example of how my husband is infiltrating my head and my music taste...

when these songs come on...it's all i can do to just be-bop my head and try not to sing out loud...

"reason why" -nickel creek
"sultans of swing" -dire straits
"keep the car running" -arcade fire
"relator" -pete yorn and scarlett johansson

ok...that last one is my addition :)

In Process...

okay...so to start off here are some things i am currently working on...

this owl in blue and green but with these really cool brown button eyes i found at jo-anns.

And this scrapbook with pictures of Ethan from January 2009...been working on this one for about a year now.

now these are things i have completed and given away. unfortunately i didn't take pictures of the items themselves so i'll just have to describe the changes i made. most of the first ones are christmas presents to robert's fam.

this pink elephant i made for sally it actually looks exactly like the picture.

the monkey i made for anna kate and looked adorable especially with the unseen cute little tail curling in the back.

the bear was for lainey and actually had a cute pale yellow dress and pearl button earrings.

this one i made for ethan to look like oswald from noggin. still looking for a little bowler hat...

unfortunately these are still unfinished (sorry allison) i have all the eggs made except for one because i ran out of eyes and have yet to find the exact same ones anywhere...

this is a project inspired by my good friend megan...who makes them much more beautifully...mainly because she is a better artist then me and takes more time to make sure everything is right. but i still like this little gnome :)

I am also working on getting started on some baby things for a work friend of mine. hopefully have something to show soon...

beginning

A crafty thinker am I...

i like to think about all the things i could or would make if i had the time, the money, the space...mainly this blog to get my butt in gear.

i really do like to make things. i hate capitalization and love an ellipses...sorry if this bothers you.

my goal is to share all the things i would like to make...my thoughts...my dreams of making things from sewing and crochet to scrap-booking and cooking...and maybe in the long run actually make and finish something.

hope you enjoy!
